“I don’t Know what it Was, But it Wasn’t Love” Ana Tapia Meza
Winning Write-A-Thon Entries: BAM! Award

The BAM! Award integrates all three topics

I cannot think,

Not a thing crosses my mind.

But the wish of you being mine,

Is always coming up.

A squeezing heart ache,

Suffocates me to no end.

My internal lights warn me,

Flashing a bright red.

But like the tiny words in a contract,

I ignore them.

Because you are so sickeningly beautiful,

But so sickeningly full of yourself.

As if it were a role you have to fulfill.

Breaking one’s heart with such evil hands.

Saying “I love you,” was part of the plan,

Trapping me under one of your spells.

Just like a fallen sailor following the waters,

Only to be pulled by a blood-thirsty slaughter.

I am in danger,

Just like the sailor.

Enchanting me with your words,

A toxic substance I shouldn’t have heard.

I am in danger,

From you.

I thought we were soulmates,

Even since youth.

But now the feeling is over,

It’s now gone.

And the thrills of the moments,

Have now drowned.

They’ve banished,

Like the sun under the moon.

A love eclipse,

It’s what describes me and you.

A dangerous relationship,

Where the me doesn’t exist and there’s only the you.
