Jamison Komaiko (9) and Stella Moreno (9) have been friends for ten years, when they met in their kindergarten class at Isla Vista Elementary School and stayed close all the way into freshman year.

Because the two girls have been friends for so long, their close bond has caused their families to become quite close to each other as well. They said that their fathers have been affected by this the most.

“Oh, yeah,” Komaiko said. “They love each other.”

Komaiko and Moreno have made many memories together over the years. One of Moreno’s favorite memories with Komaiko was a recent one that occurred as they were walking out of the Scott O’Leary Stadium.

“Jamison was having a rough day and everybody was eating her Nutella sticks,” Moreno said, “and when we walked down the ramp, she dropped her Nutella sticks, fell to the floor, and started crying.”

In addition to hanging out with each other during school hours, they also love spending time together outside of school. They enjoy taking yearly trips to Big Sur over summer vacation.

”I love to go camping with Jamison because she’s very fun,” Moreno said. “We go camping every summer.”

Moreno and Komaiko said that they love each other very much because they can always count on each other for whatever they need.

“Stella’s just the sweetest gal,” Komaiko said. “She’s a girl’s girl, which I feel like not everyone is and that’s the best thing for a friend.”

“I value my friendship with Jamison because she’s the friend that I can go to for anything,” Moreno said. “We just can do anything together and it’s fun.”

Komaiko said she has had bad experiences in the past with certain friends, but she knows that she will not have that problem with Moreno. They have developed a lot of trust for each other in their relationship.

“There are some people that have been really unreliable friends who just talk to each other about us behind our backs,” Komaiko said. “And she would never do that. And she just sticks up for everyone if she cares about them, and that’s really nice.”
