I recall speeding down a hill in a wagon
Never knowing if I’ll meet the fate of spiny cacti
As I laugh with my neighbor, a twinkle in his eye
We had the earth to play with
Climbing trees, stung by bees and whipped cream clouds just out of reach
Barbecue pool parties were always the best
No worry in life no exam or test
could stop the never ending fun before we went to rest
After a dinner of savory ribs and corn
This is the place where I fell in love with fig trees
sour grass and brown jumping spiders
The creature I learned was truly much kinder
Than the poison that killed the animal I loved
