On April 2, the Dos Pueblos High School Chargers Frosh Baseball Team competed against Rio Mesa High School and scored their sixth win in a row this season. The Chargers won the game 10-5, ultimately cutting the game short after two and a half hours.
Rio Mesa had lost their last five games this year. However, they were still cheering, clapping, and climbing on the sides of the cage at some points during the game.
DPHS held their own in terms of team encouragement, with the team saying things like “killed 12 birds with that one,” singing “Casual” by Chappell Roan, and cheering on each player when they entered the cage after returning from the field.
This encouragement extended to the crowd, where over 20 people had gathered to watch the 3:30 p.m. midweek game.
“I enjoyed taking the lead early on; all my pitches were good, and I was having fun.” said Charlie Douglas (9), one of the team’s pitchers. “I love playing with my friends. I enjoy the sport … I love getting dirty.”
