Acting talents Josh Stamberg and Miriam Shor, along with Film Director Jaqueline Christy, made a surprise appearance on the red carpet for the Santa Barbara International Film Festival’s 40th annual opening night on Feb. 4.
In the Arlington Theatre with Santa Barbara Mayor Randy Rowse and an array of city council members, the unanticipated trio gave insights relating to their experience developing an independent film.
“Every day, you woke up, and you didn’t know what kind of catastrophe would be in front of you,” Christy said.
“We were the catastrophes,” Stamberg said, laughing.
The film of the night, “Jane Austen Wrecked My Life,” is a French romantic comedy directed by Laura Paini, starring Camille Rutherford. The film focuses on a young woman’s struggles to follow her dreams of being an author and finding the love she had only ever been able to find in books.
