The annual blood drive on Tuesday will give students the chance to save lives. Students 16 and older can donate blood, and will need a parent permission form if they are under 18, which is available in English and Spanish. The blood drive will take place in the Cafeteria at Dos Pueblos High School from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m..
Blood donations are used to help people with different medical needs.
“Millions of people need blood transfusions each year,” Mayo Clinic said in an article. “Some may need blood during surgery. Others depend on it after an accident or because they have a disease that requires certain parts of blood. Blood donation makes all of this possible. There is no substitute for human blood — all transfusions use blood from a donor.”
Those who donate will receive a t-shirt, a sticker, and be provided with snacks. Students can sign up by using the QR codes posted around campus, or with this link.
“There should be snacks provided by everyone for once you donate blood so you don’t pass out,” said Alina Costilla (12), a leadership student helping to organize the drive. “You also get a t-shirt, and you get a sticker, and it says ‘In my giving era.’”
