Last weekend, Girsh Park hosted the 31 annual Goleta Lemon Festival. Each year, families from throughout the county come together for a day of games and activities.
The festival is held to celebrate Goleta’s history of harvesting lemons. It featured a car show, a pie eating contest, and multiple food stands, along with rides and games.
Dos Pueblos High School student Annabelle Gren (9) attended the festival this year and explained what she liked most about it.
“I loved how there were a lot of people having a good time,” Gren said. “It just brought a lot of people together.”
Another DP student, Thuy Ta (9), volunteered at the festival this year and worked at the bounce house.
This was her first time volunteering at the Lemon Festival and she said “it was really fun” and she would do it again.
“I liked that I got to interact with a lot of kids .… and I also like being outside,” Ta said.
