Student Senate Update April 6

April is a busy month and DPHS during student senate senators were made aware of multiple important dates for this month. Below Kashaf shares details on events occurring during April.

April: This month is designated as Sexual Assault Awareness Month as well as National Autism Awareness Month. To show advocacy, you can wear denim for sexual assault awareness and gold for national autism awareness.

Seminar: A new seminar page is in the works to be added on the DPHS website! The page will include information about the different seminar programs offered at DP, such as permaculture.

Santa Barbara City College: Seniors planning to attend SBCC may attend Senior Class Planning on Monday, April 17, and Thursday, April 20, in the College and Career Center.

Dual Enrollment: The summer class schedule for SBCC is now available. More information regarding paperwork and the class schedule can be found at SBCC Summer 2023. Registration begins Monday, April 24. Graduating seniors are able to sign up for SBCC Dual Enrollment classes!

Earth Day is April 22!

Prom: The event will be on Saturday, April 29 at the Santa Barbara Historical Museum. The duration of the event is 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. The LAST day to purchase tickets is Friday, April 21 at 4 p.m. The theme is Golden Gala.

After Prom: The event will be at Bowlero from 12:30 a.m to 4 a.m. The event will include the opportunity to win prizes, with the MacBook Air being the grand prize.

LIP DUB: The event will take place from Tuesday, April 25, through Wednesday, April 26. This event is mandatory for all seniors.

Graduation Speeches: If you are a senior and interested in giving a speech at graduation, you must submit your speech to Sienna Van Alphan at [email protected]. The last day to submit a speech is Monday, May 8, at 4 p.m.

Seniors’ Community Service: The deadline to submit community service hours for seniors working to earn a community service award is Wednesday, May 10.

MORP: This event will take place on Friday, May 12, in the cafeteria from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. MORP is the opposite of Prom and is similar to a PGP, where all students are allowed to attend. The theme is Neon.

Blood Drive: The blood drive is on May 24 in the cafeteria. In addition, students must be 16 or older and have received parent approval before signing up to donate blood. More information will be available in the coming weeks.

Grad week: The grad week is designed to honor seniors and will start on Tuesday, June 6, and end on Monday, June 10, and includes a grad bash at Universal Studios.
